6 Points for Bamboo Spoons

When it's all about cooking in the kitchen we seem to be very wary about what we choose to use. Our mind is often clouded with various questions and the most common thoughts are when it comes to care, safety and convenience.

There are mainly three types of materials for cooking spoons in the history of cooking spoons! Wood and Bamboo were the first ones, then came Metal, then came Plastic/ silicon ones. Each expected to make life easier in the kitchen.

How do you decide which ones to use? Is it a smart option? How long will they last? Are they easy to use and even recommended for new age cooking styles?

Let's break it down -

Bamboo is clever!

Bamboo or Wooden spoons for cooking is one of the oldest choices. They come in all varieties as Salad spoons, Servers, Spatulas, Pourer and can be used for all purposes.

They do not get hot if let in the pan while cooking, they are firm and feel good to touch, they do not make that harsh sound when stirring the pan unlike metal, they do not leave any toxic colours or chemicals unlike plastic/ silicon ones and to top it all they are environment friendly!

A closer look into what we are saying -

1.Good conductors of heat

Metal and plastic spoon easily get hot when in contact with high temperatures. Metal spoons can get as hot as to scald your palm while plastic spoons hold a tendency to melt at a really high temperature, on the other hand, wooden spoons don't conduct heat so you can fearlessly stir without the worry of the ladle getting too hot to touch.

2.Sturdy, firm and natural

Bamboo spoons are strong. A tool that's there to aid you in your cook prep. whether it be a flip, stir or good scrapping around the sides of your pan. Use Bamboo Salad Spoons for tossing up good fresh salad, use the Spatula for flipping on the pan, Servers to mix the veggies, stir the curry or scrape the sticky stuff. These spoons definitely won't bend or snap making it an easier and effective handle to hold on to and you enjoy the touch of natural textures unlike holding a metal or plastic handle.

3.Safe to flavour

Some kitchenware can be reactive to foods altering their flavour when tasted. While metal can leave a nasty stinging taste plastic tends to break down at the edges, release colour/ chemicals at higher temperatures and can leave its traces in your meals.

Bamboo or any wooden spoon are completely natural with no chemical coatings and the natural bamboo/ wood materials by itself for that matter is non-responsive and ensures a purer taste.

4.They don't tamper with cooking temperature

While cooking often spoons absorb the heat temperature. This can pose a problem with recipes that require a set temperature. As it plays with the consistency, taste and other factors. At times almost proving to ruin a dish like an out of shape Jell-O. Bamboo spoons are protected so food sources that might be delicate to unexpected temperatures do not observe any changes.

5.Scratch-proof

Bamboo spoons are great buddies for non-stick coated pots and pans. They don't scratch the surfaces of glass or metal like metal does and are gentle to them. You can stir and flip to your heart's content without worrying about the precious pans and Kitchenware.

6.Eco-friendly

Most of the kitchenware that is discarded either gets dumped in landfills. Bamboo is a sustainable raw material that grows easily and biodegradable.

Cooking is all about the senses and when you cook you put your energy into the food. It is important to enjoy your experience and feel good about your time in the kitchen.

Bamboo kitchenware takes care of the sensorials - beautiful to look at and add to the aesthetics of your kitchen, it feels good to touch natural materials and real textures, they sound pleasant when using as there is no harsh sound when these touch other surfaces.
